A culinary lesson to supplement a sumptuous Thai lunch in a beautiful setting is amongst the most popular new and immersive experiences that India’s well-travelled are engaging in.
To build awareness about this concept, Tourism Authority of Thailand tied up with A Perfect Bite Cook Studio (an undertaking by Rushina Munshaw Ghildiyal that offers culinary experiences in a state of the art kitchen) curated its the first ever hands-on destination-connect culinary event. On April 17, 2014 travel bloggers and tourism trade members assembled at the APB Cook Studio to explore the inextricable intertwining of Thai culture and tradition with its legendary cuisine.
Since most Indian travellers have been to Thailand countless times they are now on the lookout for new, authentic experiences in the destination. Which bring the famous thai food and culinary experience into the picture.
Some of the most frequented learning centers for cooking in Bangkok are the Blue Elephant Cooking School, Le Cordon Bleu Dusit and the cooking sessions at Chon – the Thai restaurant at The Siam. Most of Thailand’s popular tourist cities and most five-star hotels also offer culinary lessons. By offering travellers a culinary class as part of the package, particularly in oft-visited locations such as Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya, Tourism Authority of Thailand is certain that travel agents will succeed in providing a unique twist to repeat-journeys in Thailand.
The event promised to be an exciting day of culinary exploration. I learnt more about Thai cuisine, explored the ingredients that made it special, cooked my own meal from start to finish and sat down to a meal with some interesting people
With some exciting ingredients, We explored Thai Curry from scratch, Basil Chicken/Mushrooms and the haute favorite Mango and Lemongrass infused Sticky Rice to tantalize your palate.
Here are few of the recipes I managed to master at the class.
